BRING ON THE BLING – Fabulous 1980s Enamel Diamanté Jewellery

BRING ON THE BLING – Fabulous 1980s Enamel Diamanté Jewellery

If there’s one thing I love, it’s a bit of ‘Fabulous Darling’ bling !! The 1980s were not only the age of Power Dressing, with square-shouldered Armani suits, but also the age of the most fabulous big and bold jewellery:-

Gold-plated Swarovski emerald-green and cobalt-blue Turtle brooch with pavé diamanté head and feet – £20. Turtle

Gorgeous enamelled diamanté creations that were heavy and substantial,  more often than not gold-plated, and absolutely brilliant quality that has really stood the test of time. Don’t forget, it’s staggeringly 30 years since most of these bits of bijoux fun were created, and frankly, all of them look like they were made yesterday !!

GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS 2015

GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS 2015

GG 2015 01

Well, it was the first really big important awards show of 2015 last Sunday, and even though I haven’t been doing much in the way of fashion blogging lately, I couldn’t resist the lure of a really good red carpet !! So I thought I would take a look at the major red carpet trends that emerged from the Golden Globe Awards, and see the kind of looks we can expect from this red carpet season.

So do come on over and take a look:-

SPARKLING LIKE DIAMONDS…

diamond 02
Enormous glittering diamonds – yes, these are the real thing !!
Here’s the thing – I do love a bit of glitter !! Anything that sparkles and glistens in the sun is worth wearing in my opinion – yes, even in the daytime – especially in the daytime !! And if you can’t have the real thing, what do you go for – sparkling crystals and diamanté of course !!
Here are some choice pieces that I have just listed in my new-ish Etsy shop, named after this blog – “Vintage  Jewellery Fun !!” – the stock holding for which currently runs to over a hundred beautiful, and rather reasonably-priced pieces of treasure for you to enjoy…
Do come and gaze in wonder at my gorgeous bits of bling:-

Beautiful, big & bold Gold-tone Leaf Brooch by ‘Monet’ from the 1980s !!

Yes – I have decided to open a new shop in Etsy selling the very best of my vintage jewellery collection !

My liking for vintage jewellery has developed gradually over many years. First came the passion for designing and making my own jewellery, which I have been doing for years and years, and then that developed into a taste for sourcing vintage beads and findings – then I discovered e-Bay !!

MIXED LOTS OF JUNK JEWELLERY FOR SALE !!

My latest items for sale on e-bay uk are mostly the result of me having a bit of a clear-out – some mixed lots of bits and bobs, mostly perfectly wearable, some good for children to wear or play dressing-up games with.

Here are the best :-

1. 5 X LUCITE PLASTIC NECKLACES – 1950s

IMG_4540 (1024x683) (640x427)

This is a small selection of very pretty necklaces from the 50s & 60s, in pale pearly colours, which makes me think this is Lucite, a popular form of plastic used back then. I have photographed them on a variety of colours, well suited to the colours of each necklace, both together like this and individually, as I firmly believe that giving people the visual enticement helps potential buyers make up their mind – it seems to work pretty well !!

I like these necklaces even though they are unashamedly plastic, and very lightweight – they are very pretty, and summery, even the darker colours.

And the rest…

WHAT THE QUEEN WORE !!

Royal Ascot has been in progress just this last week, and as usual, there were all manner of beautiful outfits to be seen, and of course, many fun and crazy hats in attendance – so many that I have had to divide them into colour sections over at my Live Journal post regarding Royal Ascot. Come and see the Fashion Police Files here:-

Firstly though, I thought I’d do a short post and look at what the Queen wore to this most royal of annual sporting events…

E-bay sale 1 : 1980s Gold-plated sets & Necklaces

BRILLIANT NEW 1980s GOLD-PLATED & ENAMEL SETS AND NECKLACES

SALE No 1 : 20 ITEMS

Come and see my newest lot of jewellery items for sale over at e-Bay now that their new rules for listings have come into force. The new rule is your first 20 items listed for free, no matter what their starting price may be  – after that you start paying !!
Plenty of people are objecting like mad that their ‘first 100 x 99p items listed for free’ facility has been taken away, but for me it means that there will be much less cheap and sometimes rather tacky stuff cluttering up the listings – and there was plenty of junk, let me tell you. Now people are listing those items as mixed lots instead, which means the general standard of items for sale will go up, and for me anyway, that will be a good thing !!
